# What is Land?

Lands are blockchain-backed virtual tokens (NFTs) representing physical spaces in the Open World of The Parallel. They allow users to own a portion of the Metaverse and thus be able to build and create assets, games, or entertainment activities. The ownership of Land is highly featured and protected in The Parallel Ecosystem.

The Parallel plans to release a highly attractive plan for land sale that ensures Land is sold in manageable quantities/phases. Purchase availability will be prioritized based on a merit system awarded via contribution to The Parallel Ecosystem.
